Prepare the Strawberries
Begin by washing your strawberries under cool water. Gently pat them dry with a paper towel. It’s crucial to dry them thoroughly, as any moisture can prevent the chocolate from sticking properly.
Melt the Chocolate
Double boiler method: Fill a pot with a small amount of water and bring it to a simmer. Place a heatproof bowl over the pot (ensure the bowl doesn’t touch the water) and add your chopped chocolate. Stir gently as it melts.
Microwave method: Place your chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in short bursts of 30 seconds, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth. Be cautious not to overheat.
Dip the Strawberries
Hold each strawberry by its leaves or stem, and gently dip it into the melted chocolate. Swirl the strawberry in the chocolate to cover it completely, leaving the top part (where the stem is) uncovered. Hold the strawberry over the bowl to let any excess chocolate drip off.
Add Toppings (Optional)
Before the chocolate sets, roll your dipped strawberry in toppings like crushed almonds, shredded coconut, or colorful sprinkles. You can even drizzle a contrasting chocolate (like white chocolate over dark chocolate) for a more decorative touch.
Let Them Set
Place each dipped strawberry on a parchment-lined tray and allow the chocolate to set. This usually takes about 15 minutes at room temperature. If you’re in a hurry, pop the tray in the fridge for 5–10 minutes to speed up the process. Just be mindful that chilling them for too long may cause the chocolate to sweat.
Serve and Enjoy
Once the chocolate has fully hardened, your chocolate-covered strawberries are ready to enjoy! Arrange them beautifully on a platter for a gorgeous presentation, or package them up for a thoughtful homemade gift.
